Frequently Asked Questions

These are some common questions & answer about farawayland wedding photography, our services, times, style and few other details that are good for you to know.

How will you describe your style?

Although some of us prefer natural light, candid or fashion, we do all of them. In one word: versatile. We will hide to capture some photojournalistic moments if we think it is the right situation and we will be posing you like a super model from time to time :).

Basically we adapt to what is happening to create the best images.

We love your work guys, how do we book you?

Send us an email with some basic details, like date of the wedding and hours needed, so we can tell you if we are available. Then come down to the studio for a quick chat, a drink and see more of our work.

Are the weddings in your portfolio REAL WEDDINGS or styled shoots?

We are proud to say we don’t advertised mockups, inspired, stylized, editorials, etc as wedding photography.

We photograph real people. Really tall, very short, extra small, double L, shy, outgoing, nervous, whoever you are we got you cover.

Many photographers don’t publish their prices but you do, what’s the catch?

You have probably heard “we will send a tailored quote” or “send us an email and I’ll send you the price”. Well, we don’t do that. From the very beginning you know how much you’re investing with us. We are not trying to get the last penny out of your pocket, there’s no hidden fees in the small fine print with us. We are confident that our packages are priced fairly. We want to be a solution for you and not a headache.

How long does it take to receive our final images and video?

We are proud to say that we don’t outsource any of our editing. Our commitment to you extends well beyond your wedding day. Every single image get edited in-house before you receive them. Yes, it’s a lot of work editing thousand of pictures but we want to make sure that you receive the best possible. Our name is on the line 😉
Allow between 5-6 weeks for the final product to be ready.

Can we get the RAW pictures?

if you had a dress made, would you ask for the muslin fitting trials or the fabric cut-offs? Or the stone chips leftover from the carving of a sculpture? Obviously not.

a RAW image is an undeveloped file with straight information from the camera, no adjustments have been made. They look like this in your browser, smart phone, tablet or computer.

Raw-Image-Format-Files-are-now-supported-in-Windows-7-Explorer Hey that’s just an icon!!?? Exactly. RAW files are unusable until processed with an editing program. What will you received are high resolution JPG files.

The photos that aren’t chosen to be edited were left behind for a reason. No one wants to think of themselves as unphotogenic, but sometimes a picture will be plain unflattering, blurry, or will unintentionally highlight something you don’t like. No matter how much a customer assures a photographer that they will not be upset by the RAW unedited stack of photos, this invariably turns out to be the case.

We are just as interested as you are in having your photos be beautiful and memorable. We spend hours making sure you received only the best ones.

We take Cash, Cheques, INTERAC e-Transfer and also credit card and Paypal but these last two methods we require a little service fee to be added ( it isn’t our fault, you know how banks are)

 What about the Albums?

Some of our wedding packages include an album; however you can order an album for any session. We don’t charge extra for the design of your album. Our albums are printed with a profesional supplier based in San Francisco and it takes around two weeks to get here after the order has been placed. Prices vary from size and number of pages.

Example:  Hard Cover Book | 12×12 | Thick pages | Lustre texture | 20 Pages  $285.00  View example here.

 Booking a session (except weddings)

We book our sessions 2-4 weeks in advance, so please book as early as you can to ensure desired dates and times. We only book a limited amount of sessions each month to allow for post-session final touches, so you get the quality images that can only be found with us. We take a $100 non-refundable retainer deposit due at the time of your booking. The deposit will be credited towards the cost of your final purchase.

 Location (except weddings)

Our sessions are held primarily in our Vancouver Studio (family photo sessions are usually done in parks or other locations). Maternity, baby and 1 year celebration photo sessions can also be done at an outdoor location for an extra $50 – this includes travel, parking or assistant costs.

 After The Session (except weddings)

You will have a proof gallery with the all the photos from your session available online approximately one week after the session (this may vary in busy times such as Christmas by a week, give or take). After reviewing your images, you can choose the ones that you would like us to professionally retouch (15 -20 depending on your package). You will receive professionally retouched photos of your session approximately three weeks later.

Rescheduling is available for one time only. Please let us know a minimum of 48 hours prior to your original scheduled session.

 Refund Policy

 Digital images are non-refundable.

 Are digital images expensive?

The cost of digital images factors not only the time of the shooting itself but the retouching time, professional photographic equipment, skills, experience and artistic vision. Digital images give you the freedom to decide how you want to enjoy your photos. They give you the option to share with family and friends online, or print as many as you want and whatever you prefer.
